conhecer ("to know"), nascer ("to be born"), morrer ("to die"), e.g.:

Grammar Point: "to know"

Spanish has two words for the English verb "to know": saber and conhecer. Saber means to know a fact or piece of information, e.g.: A minha mãe sabe que eu a amo ("My mother knows that I love her"), while conhecer means to know or be familiar with a person, place or thing, e.g.: Conheço um professor que o pode ajudar.
